Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj held a meeting with the German ambassador in Tirana, Karl Bergner, and Brit Horschke, director of the Bank for Development (Credit Institute for Reconstruction) in Albania.
During the meeting, Minister Malaj and Ambassador Bergner evaluated the relations between Albania and Germany and emphasized the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation. The Ministry of Finance is committed to continuing and expanding its cooperation with the German government.

Mr. Malaj acknowledged the significance of Germany as a strategic partner for our country, noting the country’s role in providing direct financing for numerous projects in priority sectors. These sectors include energy, tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, and more, with a significant contribution to sustainable development and integration processes. In this context, the Minister of Finance highlighted the significance of the financial management of funds from international partners and the necessity of rigorous process monitoring for the continuity of joint project implementation.

The meeting also addressed cooperation with the German development bank KfW. The parties expressed gratitude for KfW’s role as a significant contributor to the country’s development, particularly through funding allocations of approximately €1 billion for the energy sector, water supply, sewerage infrastructure, and other vital sectors. They reiterated their resolve to maintain and expand this partnership.
